Understanding Ranks in Valorant
Ranks in Valorant indicate a person's success and ability in the FPS game. They are part of the competitive ranking system developed by Riot Games.
Players improve their rank by consistently performing well in the Valorant ranked and securing match victories. They usually start with the iron rank and go all the way up to immortal and radiant ranks, with the latter rank only being held by a mere fraction of the total player count.
How Does Valorant Ranked Works?
The Valorant ranked is a competitive mode where players test their skills against others in structured matches.

What is The Valorant Act Rank?
In Valorant, although your overall rank represents your actual skill level, you also earn a separate Act Rank as you progress through each Act. It signifies your highest-ranked win during the Act, your "proven skill" as deemed by Riot Games.
The Act Rank is a transparent triangle badge that accumulates smaller triangles within it as you secure ranked match wins spanning different skill levels. Riot Games also uses this Act's Rank to evaluate you at the end of an entire act. It resets every act just like the positions on the leaderboard, but your current MMR does not. This is because placement games for the next Act are adjusted based on your MMR to create fairness.

Valorant Party Rank Restrictions and Placements
To participate in Valorant's Competitive mode, you must reach an account level of 20, a requirement introduced in Episode 4 Act 1. Once you've achieved this milestone, you can start ranked play.
However, at the start of each episode, you will still need to play five placement matches to set your placement for that episode. In addition, you will again be required to play one placement match for the second and third Acts of the same Episode, as placement matches reset every Act.
Can I Play Competitive With Friends?
When it comes to playing Valorant with friends, yes, you can. Valorant wants you to play with friends, even in competitive mode, but there are certain party restrictions to fulfill to create a fair playing field.
What is the Premade Size Cap?
At max, you can queue with five. However, there are limitations to ranked differences when queuing as a party of two or three friends. For example, the party highest rank player can be Silver if the lowest-rank player is Iron, Bronze, or Silver. If the lowest rank player is Silver, the highest can be Gold. If the lowest rank is Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal, or Radiant, the highest can only be one above the lowest.
Are Four Player Groups Allowed?
Groups of four players are not allowed. This is to avoid a lone player (the solo queued teammate) being targeted or abused.
Is There Any Rank Rating Penalty If I Queue Up with a Full Party?
There is no RR penalty for a full party of five players. However, if your team has a fairly large skill discrepancy, you will have ranked rating (RR) changes. If someone on your team is substantially lower or higher than you, the RR gain for a win will be reduced, and the RR reduced for a loss will be increased.
