valorant maps

Knowing the Valorant map layouts is key to improving in Riot Games' highly competitive shooter game. I initially struggled to rank up in the game due to lacking Valorant's map-set knowledge. If you are also struggling, there is no need to worry anymore. Please read this article, where I provide everything you need to know about all the maps in Valorant. Or, you can also get some Valorant boost service to rank up if you're short on time quickly. With that said, let's get started!

All the Maps in the Active Valorant Map Pool

As of May 2025, there are 17 maps in Riot Games' Valorant map pool, which are further subdivided into standard, team deathmatch, and practice map pools. All these maps are either located in Omega Earth or Alpha Earth. Speaking of which, both Omega and Alpha Earths are fictional versions of Planet Earth.

Standard Maps

Bind

valorant bind

Bind is special because it has no middle area—just two bomb spike sites connected by one-way teleporters. These teleporters let you rotate quickly and surprise enemies. The map feels tight, with many small corners, so abilities and good timing matter here.

Haven

valorant haven

Riot Games' Haven is the first map in Valorant with three sites instead of two. This makes defense harder, as players must cover more ground, always be aware, and be on constant vigilance. Smart rotation and communication are key here. The map has many paths, giving attackers creative ways to push and defenders chances to surprise.

Split

valorant split

If there’s one word for Split, it’s vertical. With high ground, many ropes, two sites, and many corners, this map rewards players who control mid and use the upper angles well. It’s a Tokyo-inspired tech zone where fast rotation and careful utility can give a significant advantage and make all the difference.

Ascent

valorant ascent

Set in the scenic backdrop of Italy, Ascent has a big open playground mid area, which both teams fight to control with aggressive pushes and decisive holds. The map also has strong metal doors near each site—you can close them to block rival agents. With a simple design and lots of space to move, Ascent is excellent for new and experienced players.

Icebox

valorant icebox

Icebox is set in Russia's cold Arctic base with many high ground and tight corners, giving a crucial advantage if played right. Zip lines let you move fast and surprise enemy agents. You’ll need good aim and quick thinking here. The layout makes vertical fights common, so watch above and below before pushing forward.

Breeze

valorant breeze

With wide open spaces and two spike sites, Breeze is full of long-range engagements. It's great for snipers but tough if you prefer close combat. Mid control matters a lot, and rotating fast can win rounds.

Fracture

valorant fracture

Fracture is one of the most unusual two-site maps in Riot Games' Valorant. Attackers come from both sides, surrounding defenders from the start. It’s shaped like an “H” and needs quick thinking and strong communication.

Pearl

valorant pearl

Pearl is a simple, no-gimmick map set in an underwater city. It has only two sites and three clear lanes. There are no teleporters or doors—just clean fights and straight strategy. Controlling the middle is vital if you want to dominate, make strong attacks with your agents, or do quick rotations.

Lotus

valorant lotus

Unlike other maps, Lotus is a three-site map full of surprises. It has spinning stone doors, tight hallways, a destructible wall between A Main and A Link, and many chances for fast flanks. You’ll need quick moves and smart teamwork to keep up.

Sunset

valorant sunset

Sunset is set in the streets of Los Angeles and follows the classic three-lane style with two sites. It’s all about mid-control and smart rotations. A breakable door near B Market adds fun twists to your plans.

Abyss

valorant abyss

Abyss is the newest map with two plant sites, unlike anything else. It has no borders, so one wrong step can send you falling off the edge! You’ll need good timing and careful movement with two sites and many vertical fights.

Team Deathmatch Maps

TDM gameplay mode is played on maps other than those available in the Standard map pool, such as Ascent, Sunset, Haven, Bind, Pearl, and Split. Although TDM gameplay maps resemble the design of Standard maps, they are not linked to them and hence lack physical coordinates.

  • District
  • Kasbah
  • Piazza
  • Drift
  • Glitch

Practice Map

The Range is a training site in Valorant. New players can play every agent in Range, learn how to take cover, practice new angles, and warm up before diving into a match.

Valorant's Seven-Map System For Competitive Rotation

valorant map rotation system

As per Joe Lansford, in June 2022, the lead map designer of Valorant, the 5V5 tactical shooter by Riot Games, will now always have a seven-map competitive pool so that new players can easily adjust in the game and don't have their attention divided in learning all the battlefield maps at once. This will let players refine their skills better, overcome challenges, learn strategies, and explore challenging maps like Split and Breeze at their own pace.

The current Competitive Map Pool as of the Year 2025 is this:

  • Ascent
  • Icebox
  • Fracture
  • Haven
  • Lotus
  • Pearl
  • Split

Abyss, Sunset, Bind, and Breeze were removed.

Valorant Map Coordinates

valorant map coordinates

I'll admit that reading Valorant map coordinate data is not easy at first. While playing a game match, just before you enter the round, you'll see letters and numbers in degrees, minutes, and seconds on the loading screen. Go through this table and learn how to decipher the real-world positions of these maps:

Latitude (N/S) AlphabetsLongtitude (E/W) AlphabetsCorresponding Numbers
AZ0
BY1
CX2
DW3
EV4
FU5
GT6
HS7
IR8
JQ9

For example, according to this, Breeze coordinates, 26°11'AG" N 71°10'WY" W, will become 26°11'06" N 71°10'31" W.

What Determines Map Selection in Valorant?

First, 10 players are selected. Then, the system looks at the last 5 maps they have played for the mode they've selected, and all those maps that have been played twice are removed. The system then picks the least played map from the remaining ones. In case all maps are removed by the "Twice Played" criteria, only the least played map is picked instead, and this rule is ignored.
